One of the
things that I like best about being a motivational business speaker is that I
get to help people. I get to brainstorm with business owners and corporate CEO's
about how to improve their tactics and increase their bottom lines. I also get
to inspire those who are looking to bring out the very best within themselves.
When I wrote
iLead, one of my goals was to
continue this work by helping people to do even more to help themselves and
their businesses with the methods that I was utilizing on a regular basis. As a
motivational business speaker, I couldn't be everywhere at once… but iLead could! In fact, it sold over 83,000
copies in the first 30 days after it was released!
To me, this
says that people are looking for the next best thing when it comes to
leveraging business growth… and I believe that iLead is exactly that.
Here is a
quote from iLead that I really like to
share with people. It pertains to business growth, and I believe that it is incredibly
relevant to any business, regardless of what industry you are in.
“If
you study any great leader, you’ll discover that they weren't just good at
telling people what to do. In fact, leaders who do that are never long-lived.
All the great leaders give their audience a unified goal and a place to gather
together to discuss that goal. For businesses seeking growth, this goes beyond
customer surveys and focus groups. Those tactics sometimes work, but they have
a much smaller return on investment when you consider the time, money and
effort needed to make them work. Done properly, a community will be an entirely
organic thing, growing every day, expanding your audience and accumulating new
posts, giving you more valuable customer feedback to dip into and use to
improve every past, present, and future product and marketing campaign. In
short it will do more work for you than you could ever do for yourself in a
focus group.”
What Does This Mean For Business Growth?
This excerpt
comes from chapter 2 of iLead, and it
deals with a very crucial component to business growth… community. Communities
have always been important to business growth. Businesses have been struggling
to gain acceptance among communities of their prospective clients since the
beginning of time. That is, in the simplest terms, the holy grail for business
growth.
But how do
you do it? How do you tap into those communities? Well, those are great
questions, and the answers have changed a lot. Of course, one of the first
things that you need to learn is that effective marketing tactics have changed
a lot over the past 30 years. While some of the most effective advertising used
to take place in newspapers and magazines, online communities are now where the
business has gone.
If you can
effectively become a part of the online community and provide value to your
customers though it (My book iLead,
available on advancedbusinessgrowth.com,
deals with this issue in great detail), then you can unlock the secret to
explosive business growth and utilize it to leverage incredible profits.
It is all
about relating to your customers, communicating with them in a way that will
add value to their lives, and delivering your message to them in such a way
that they will realize how much they really need your products and/or services.
